New York Mets v Philadelphia Phillies, July 23, 1990 Veterans Stadium, Section 632, Row 4
Why was I at a baseball game on a Monday night? I have no idea. A 2nd place team was playing a 4th place team. The pitching match up was nothing spectacular. Frank Viola was going against Bruce "Two Minutes for" Ruffin.
It took until the 4th for anything to be put on the board. The Mets Gregg Jefferies hit a home run off Ruffin. Darryl Strawberry and Kevin McReynolds both knocked in 2 more runs for the Mets in the 6th.
The Phils responded in the bottom half of the 6th. Charlie Hayes batted in a run. Soon after Dickie Thon hit a 2 run homer. The Phils ended up scoring 5 in the inning going on to win the game 7-4.
39,260 were said to be on hand that evening.
