Colonial Athletic Association Tournament, March 3, 2002 Richmond Coliseum, Sec 17L Row C
A conference tournament in March does not officially constitute "madness", but this is where it all begins.
I suspect these were comp tickets. Not many people pay to go to events at the poorly managed and dilapidated Richmond Coliseum. What is surprising the CAA still plays their conference tournaments there to this day.
The champs this year was UNC-Wilmington who beat VCU in the semis. UNC-W defeated Drexel in the finals and went on to represent the CAA in the NCAA tournament.
