Army v Navy, December 1, 1984Veterans Stadium, Sec 719, Row 14
A year after the game took a trip out west to be played in the Rose Bowl, it moved back to Philadelphia.
The classic was played in the old JFK Stadium (named Municipal Stadium prior to 1964) across the street from 1945-1979, moving to the newer Veterans Stadium in 1980. My dad was a big fan of the game and attended many games at Municipal Stadium in the 60's in the Roger Staubach years.
In fact, my grandfather collapsed and died after attending the 1962 classic.
We had tickets in hand but were under the stadium outside where we saw tons of people with either Go Army or Go Navy tshirts that were given away by a beer company. We asked a security guard at a non-ticket entrance underneath where all those people go their shirts. He pointed inside the stadium and said the people (giving away shirts) just walked by. He motioned us inside sans tickets. My ticket stub was never ripped.
