Richmond Virginia in the entertainment world is known for 2 things; Up and coming bands and bands 30 years past their prime.  No other performer personifies this than Bruce Springsteen.  Springsteen got his start in 2 places, the Jersey Shore and Richmond.  He literally went from performing in the Franklin Street Gym in the mid 70s to performing in The Spectrum in Philadelphia.  He went on to perform at The Spectrum alone 47 more times.  Zero more times in Richmond until 2003. 
When a Weird Al comes to Richmond it probably isn't to launch a career,  but to desperately hang on to one that ended years ago.
My defense for buying tickets was going to be a few sub 10 year olds and MTV.  But I realized MTV stopped showing music videos about 10 year ago.
