Another First Time

Chicago White Sox v Baltimore Orioles, May 9, 1992

Camden Yards, Sec 307, Row 2

Unlike my first time at Citizens Bank Park in 2004, I was pretty impressed with Camden Yards.  Nostalgia was beginning to return to MLB.  Camden Yards was the beginning of the end of crappy circular concrete bowls with Astorturf being used to play baseball in.  What seemed to start this resergence in history was the Oakland A's redesigning their uniforms to a retro look.  The O's also went back to their ornithologically correct Oriole hat over the cartoon character hat of the 70's-80's.

Chicago's Frank Thomas drove in veteran Steve Sax for the game's first run in the top of the 1st.  In the bottom of the 2nd the O's went ahead after Mike Devereaux singles and Randy Milligan drew a walk and Chris Hoilies singled to load the bases.  Billy Ripken came up and drove in a run by getting hit by a pitch.  Brady Anderson singled to drive in 2 more for a 3-1 Oriole lead.

Frank Thomas drove in another run in the 3rd to draw within a run of the O's.

In the 5th the Orioles Joe Orsulak tripled to right scoring Anderson, who was on first after a lead off single.

In the bottom of the 9th the Orioles once again loaded the bases.  And once again the Sox allowed a run to score without giving up a hit.  This time Scott Radinsky walked Mark McLemore, forcing in Devereaux for an Orioles 5-2 lead which would end up being the final score of the ballgame.
