Chicago Cubs v Atlanta Braves, August 13, 2008Turner Field, Section 309L Row 3
A quick trip to Atlanta for a ballgame. The Braves are struggling after a over a decade of division dominance. Plus, this is their first game since losing long time announcer Chip Carey. A somber and well deserved tribute to Carey preceeded the game.
Turner Field looks much like most modern stadiums. Very generic. Because of our seat location I did not take the time to explore the stadium much.
The Braves threw Jorge Campillo and he was lit up in the first for 4 quick runs. Alfonso Soriano hit an RBI double in the 4th to add another.
The Cubs added another 3 in the 9th in this loopsided affair. The park was populated with a good number of Cubs fans who are now traveling well. This was the year the Cubs were a lock to make it to the World Series and possible break the Curse of the Billy Goat. Never happened.
The highlight of the night was when leaving the stadium. A local sportscaster stood on top of the news van and began broadcasting live. We got close to the van and started yelling "Baba Booey Baba Booey" which caught the reporter off guard. He struggled to keep his eyes on the camera. I never got to see a tape of that one.
