Minor league ball came into favor for us in 1995 when the MLB players went on strike and canceled the World Series.
Trenton was the AA team for the Boston Red Sox in 1996. We were a year removed from Nomar Garciaparra playing an entire season at shortstop for the Thunder.
The 96 Trenton squad saw a young Carl Pavano who notched 16 wins with 146 strike outs. Trot Nixon played right field that year batting .251 with 11 home runs.
Lou Merloni was a popular infielder on the squad.
